This and That

I am not doing anything in particular atm. I still have to get to the craft store to get more cotton to match that bag so I can finish it. I have a ton of bags, so I will probably save it for a gift. That is my first crochet with bead project, and I love it. I have been wracking my brain to think of other great ways to add them into any projects I do. Any insight on that would be great. I may have to look into getting a book or two. I'm also working a bit on a scarf I started knitting from the Stitch 'N Bitch book. There are so many great patterns in there. I read the Happy Hooker, and I've been crocheting for over 8 months, and I learned some really interesting tips. That's what I'm using to learn to knit, and it feels a bit confusing. I keep redoing the stitches, but some are loose and some are tight. It also gave a tip on ends, saying to work every last stitch, then on the second stitch of the next row, to work that one tight, but my ends were HORRIBLE! So I'm doing where I skip the last stitch of every row. I get really frustrated trying to learn new things, but I keep reminding myself I was like this when I learned to crochet as well. I do think knitting is harder, at least in the aspect of fixing stitches.

Beaded bag in the making

I started making a beaded bag. I think I am not going to have enough yarn to finish it though. Guess I have an excuse to go to the yarn store *grin*. I got a book on crochet with beads for christmas, and I decided to make a project because I think it's so cute. I am making it with Lily's Sugar 'N Cream in a blue shade. I don't have the name of the shade at the moment. Anyways, here is a photo in the making. I also finished a bookmark from Crochet Me that is made with beads and crochet cotton #10.

Here is the bag pattern

Scarf is finished and not so pretty

I finished the scarf, but I guess I did not have as much yarn as I thought, so it is a very short scarf. It was leftover yarn from a blanket I made. I went to the craft store, and got the last skein of yarn I need to finish my capelet, so I am working on that. Next, I am doing another project out of Stich 'N Bitch, the Knitters Handbook. It will be another scarf. I'm not sure I am ready to tackle shaping and increasing/decreasing yet. I made a swatch of stockinette stitch, and I absolutely love it. It's soooo pretty. I can tell why it's the most popular knit stitch. It's gorgeous! I don't think I am even going to post the picture of that scarf. It's very ugly, but it's my first baby, so I will keep it I am sure. My next crochet project will definately be something for summer. Maybe a summer coverup, or a shrug.

Dabbling in Knitting

I am almost done with my scarf. It was made with leftover yarn, so it is not going to be very long. That's ok, because it's not the prettiest thing in the world, being my second knitting project. The first one I made was a dishcloth, which is a good first project because no matter how ugly it is, it still is useful. I took a trip to the craft store this weekend, and got the last skein of yarn I need to finish the capelet, and some cute beads, because I'd like to start adding beads to my crochet.

First Post

Welp, after spending hours, I finally chose to make a crochet blog. I started crochetng about 8 months ago, and have since fallen in love with it. I constantly am working on a project, and spend hours scouring patterns. I just picked up knitting, but crochet still has my heart. I figured I should give knitting a chance before I snub it, though. There are a ton of cute knitting patterns I have come across, and I see a lot more knitting patterns for socks, which I like to make. I assume, from what I read about knitting, it is more elastic, and would make them and a few other items better. I am all about expanding my horizon. I am currently working on a beginner knitting pattern, a 2 x 2 ribbed scarf, using chunky yarn.

I just got Stitch 'N Bitch The Happy Hooker, The Knitter's Handbook, and Nation for my birthday, and I absolutely love it! If you have not read it, you have to check it out. The patterns are designed for ages 18-35 I believe it is, and there are some awesome patterns. It is written really well, and has a lot of interesting tid bits and tips. That is what I am using to learn knitting, along with some visual help from I am not a very creative person, but I am hoping to come up with some patterns and ideas of my own.
